Your Weekend Cocktail - Blackberry Margarita

When I first started working at this bar in Chicago, my friend and coworker there, Carrie, told me the first drink I should perfect was their three shot margarita because the owner always ordered them.  They were wise words.

The thing about margaritas is that you don't have to work hard to perfect them.  You just skip the mixers, use fresh ingredients, and if you find a recipe that has you running to a bunch of different stores to get the ingredients; you should rip it up.

Blackberry Margarita

1/3 cup each:
- Patron silver tequila 100% agave
- Cointreau
- Freshly squeezed lime juice
- Blackberry juice*
1 Tablespoon orange simple syrup or plain simple syrup

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice. Shake well. Pour into two cocktail glasses filled with ice and garnished with a lime wedge.

*To make the blackberry juice above, you’ll need a full cup of fresh blackberries. You can either smash them in a mortal with a pestle or pulse them in your blender. Either method results in a thick mush, which you’ll need to strain through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to leave the seeds behind and extract the juice.
